LESSONS FROM YOUR 30TH YEAR 🛳️✨
It’s hard to believe how much you’ve packed in to this last year Ames, let alone your last decade 🤯
Working as ‘Cruise Programs Administrator’ for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines was quite the plot twist at this point in your life… but a beyond brilliant one.
🎓 Turned out it was as character building as it was thrilling 🤪
After a couple of eye-opening months in Asia, it’s off to Florida to a ship operating 3-4 day loops of the Bahamas. Hideous 😎🏝️
Livers shall be tested, ENDLESS belly laughs with more amazing humans shall be had (some ‘lifers’ on the friendship front) and chuck in coupla flings with men in uniform for good measure. All the nice girls love a sailor ⚓️
Having established that vacation time between contracts is dedicated to spending every last tax-free cent you’ve earned, South Africa is the way to do this. Nothing to do with temporarily continuing one of said flings… totes there solely for the safari 🤥
Quick check in with the family in Blighty and ready to get back aboard in the summer. This time, it’s the Scandinavian itinerary for a couple of months of stunning scenery and memorable places to tick off.
Bob and Mads are able to milk the mates rates on more than one occasion – a pretty special perk 🥰
🎓Next up, the Mediterranean route and an Atlantic crossing. A whole new appreciation for mother nature and the ocean is gained 🌊😵💫
Spending the 30th alone in a Holiday Inn Express in Cape Canaveral probably wasn’t your ideal plan. 2-4-1 cocktails at TGI Friday’s next door help though 🍹
As does a day at Universal Studios where queue jumping is a massive win. Albeit the smugness is short lived every time a teenager with a megaphone starts barking “DO WE HAVE ANY SINGLE RIDERRRS? CAN OUR SINGLE RIDERS PLEASE COME FORWARD”. The glares of all non-single-riders burns in to the back of your head as you awkwardly glide forward.
🎓 Quite another world, ship life. But possibly the most fun and freeing adventure you’ve had to date 💜
Oh… aside, that is, from almost missing the ship in Alexandria, Egypt (ie, instant dismissal) and thinking you may end up being sold for camels. That was not fun 😳🐫
